Since the first days of work in new quality the management of the Peace Fund and its local organizations have concentrated their attention on the Chernobyl problem which is burning for Belarus. First of all the long-term program of help to children from areas that have suffered most from the Chernobyl tragedy. Certainly, the decision of the basic questions directed on decrease of the consequences of terrible nuclear catastrophe, and first of all the organization of rehabilitation of the genofund of the nation - children- was undertaken by the state. But the Fund of Peace as far as it had the opportunities, has actively participated in this work which has already been conducted for more than ten years. In the beginning with assistance and support of the Fund, groups of children have been recovered on the resorts of the Black Sea coast and in sanatorium "Svetlana" which is situated near Moscow. However the prices here soon became inaccessible, and the further realization of the planned program of recovering of the children became possible only owing to the disinterested aid from merciful foreign partners of the Fund which responded on the Chernobyl pain.
The first hand of help was stretched by the active workers of the Dutch charitable organization "Rainbow" with doctor Bert Dorenbos as the chief manager. As the result of joint efforts of this organization and the Fund, the first group of children from two boarding schools of the Gomel area have left for Balbrug (Denmark) for a 2 month rest and preventive treatment. Then special buses followed the familiar route to the Country of Tulips with new groups of junior school age children.
Small visitors from Krasnopolya and Kostyukovichey, Zhlobinskogo, Zhitkovichogogo, Soligorskogo and other areas which were injured from pernicious influence of radiation were warmly accepted as native inhabitants of Dayventer, Naykerk, Susht, Maruzen and other cities.
During the joint cooperation of the Fund and "Rainbow" three thousand boys and girls from Belarus had a rest in Holland under the program of recovery from the Chernobyl catastrophe.
Today the program of the recovering from the Chernobyl is successfully continued by the other public organization "the Help to the children of Chernobyl" with Klaus Koopson as the chief manager.
The relay race of mercy of our Dutch friends was picked up by the active workers from Ireland - Committee for nuclear disarmament and the charitable organization "Barren Chernobyl project", the International organization "Christian mission the East-West" from the United Kingdom of Great Britain, the Japanese Chernobyl children's fund, charitable organizations from Spain, Italy, Finland and other countries.
Since 1992 large-scale cooperation of the Fund with public associations from Germany began. The first group of twenty schoolboys from Grodno was hospitably accepted by the inhabitants of the district Minden-Luebeck of the Federal ground Northern Rhine-Westphalia. Dresden and Stuttgart, Linden, Ruthann and Vurcburg have followed this example. Business contacts with separate charitable associations and church communities on the extremely important for Belarus question got long-term character, new partners were successfully included to the orbit of cooperation.
The organizations of mass recovering of our children in Germany was preceded by the big spadework, including a number of actions which have been lead by the Fund and its regional branches in Brest, Grodno and other regions. The wide public resonance had the international Bicycle races of Peace on the roads of Germany and Belarus with participation of German and Belarus sportsmen. These actions had the purpose of drawing attention of the citizens of Germany to the Chernobyl problems of our republic, to distress with health of the children - the future of the Belorussian nation.
Meetings and negotiations with representatives of the German public, inhabitants of cities and villages through which the route of Bicycle races of Peace ran, yielded positive results.
The offers on cooperation were received from the church communities, charitable organizations and separate citizens of Germany. As the result of incomplete five years cooperation of friends and partners of the Fund in Germany more than 10 thousand boys and girls of school age have passed a rate of recovery rest. Thus it is necessary to emphasize, that all the charges for recovery of the children are incurred by the partners of the Fund. Besides the accepting party from any state finances all charges under the maintenance of children during their recovery, pays, if there is a necessity, cost of medicines and services of doctors. This order established between the Fund and foreign partners in the first years of joint cooperation, remains constant in the new century as well.
Charitable actions on bicycles have brought the large sum of money. In a course of only one bicycle race, "Tours Paiper-91", which was organized by the initiative of the German well-known expert on cancer diseases professor Fritz Lambert and its colleagues from children's clinic at Gysses university, it has been collected as donations from citizens of Germany one million 300 thousand mark. The participants of the bicycle tour have transferred these means to the children's branch of 1-st clinical hospital in Minsk.
As the result of another bicycle race, with participation of well-known German doctor Valentine Gerajna, the construction of the Republican scientific-practical oncological center in Borovlyani began. Owing to the initiative, persistence and the energy of doctor Gerajna, appreciable financial help from merciful people from Germany this center is still working.
From many German partners participating in realization of target social programs, the Fund of Peace has especially strong communications and warm friendly attitudes with Ecumenical working union "Chernobyl" of the small city of Korshenbrojh, with Doctor Johannes Tille, the former teacher, the son of the German soldier who was killed in the fight with the Belarus guerrillas, at the head.
About the kind affairs of Johaness Tille, which came more than ten years ago on the Belarus ground with words of a repentance that its compatriots have made here during occupation, and noble mission of the world and mercy, the materials were published several times in mass media of republic. With assistance of doctor Tille and its colleagues in Korshenbrauhe and other cities of the Federal ground of Northern Rhine - Westfalia have corrected health over eight thousand Belorussian children, including those two hundred onkologicaly ill children who have passed rehabilitation course. Ecumenical union " Chernobyl " has the representation at Fund of the world. It allows to operatively complete groups of children, without a delay to legalize necessary papers, in result a stream of children directed on improvement of health to Germany, does not stop. The representation adjusts distribution and delivery of the humanitarian help which is constantly delivered to Belarus with assistance of Ecumenical union " Chernobyl ".
Humanitarion activity of the peacemaker from Germany has received in our republic a worthy estimation at the highest level. Deep gratitude to doctor Johannesu Tille for its huge contribution to the decision of a Chernobyl problem was expressed by the president of Belarus A.G.Lukashenko. " The life confirms popular wisdom, that friends are learnt in a trouble, that the humanism and mercy are everlasting values at all times. Your charities is a certificate of kind attitudes which have developed between our peoples " - is spoken in the personal message of the head of the state. The Ministry of Emergency Measures of republic for big merits of Johanes Tille in the field of mercy and in connection with the 65-anniversary has awarded it on the eve of 2001 with the Certificate of Honour. It, in particular, has been marked personal contribution of the head of Ecumenical union " Chernobyl " in liquidation of consequences of destructive flooding in area Petrikovsk of the Gomel region by summer of 1999. Then doctor Tille and its spouse Ursula have delivered in village Snjadin, the inhabitants of which were in extreme conditions, a humanitarian cargo to the sum of 1,2 billion (not denominated roubles).
Care.
Questions of social orientation underlie the target program - "Care". It includes various kinds of help to lonely and aged people, disabled, large families, and also children's homes and schools-boarding schools, medical establishments, the organizations which unite veterans of war and labour, other categories citizens in need.
Before disintegration of the USSR when the Fund of the World received significant sums due to voluntary payments and donations of collective and individual investors, in Belarus on rendering of material aid tens and hundred thousand roubles went. Now the Fund has no such great opportunities: because of the extremely complex financial position of the majority of the population the receipt in " a coin box of the world " were sharply reduced.
In such conditions the rate must be made basically on foreign sponsors.
As well as in a question of improvement of children, readiness to render feasible support to the desperately needing population of republic was expressed by many charitable organizations. From Holland and Germany, Denmark, Northern Ireland, England, Japan and other countries there were transports and escorts of humanitarian cargoes, addressed to Fund of the world and the International humanitarian organization "Chernobyl-help"
Partners of Fund organize fund raising in the countries, get for it and then deliver in republic medicines and the medical equipment, invalid carriages, vitamins, a children's feed, dressing and other materials for medical establishments, etc. Part of such cargoes is made with clothes, footwear, bedding, other things, second-hand, but quite suitable to use.
All this goes to regional, local and city branches of Fund which then distribute it on places among requiring. Many foreign partners look after certain area, city, concrete children's home, a school-boarding school, hospital
Foreign chives send to the sponsored the humanitarian help, periodically direct to Belarus the delegations for the coordination of projects of the further cooperation and carrying out of joint actions. The Irish friends, for example, were interested in the experience of the organization of Bicycle races of the world. Last year active workers of the charitable organization " The Varen Chernobyl project " over which known public figure Bryan Mooney supervises, have suggested to lead bicycle race on a route Minsk-Yvlech settlement
Its purpose - the fund raising, necessary for sponsoring sanatorium school and financing of new groups of Belarussian children - chernobyltsev which will be accepted in Ireland.
" the Baren Chernobyl project " is one of the first which has begun to carry out improvement of our children in western countries!. And continue this noble mission already more than ten years.
Realization of the program demands on considerable means, there is a necessity in constant and persevering search of perspective opportunities in the financial sphere which would provide inflow of means due to donations, would induce people to give money under the offered project.
The bicycle race which was taking place under aegis of Fund of the world and public association
The international humanitarian organization "Chernobyl-help", has justified hopes of initiators of the action. During it some money have been collected, part of which the participants of run have transferred to Malechskoj sanatorium school, and other part of it for updating the budget of the future charges on reception to improvement of the Belarus guys.
The fund of Peace uses various forms of the activity for attraction of attention of the world community to a Chernobyl problem of Belarus. In July, 1992 under its initiative with participation of the Belarussian scientists and their colleagues from Japan, Great Britain, the USA and other countries near Minsk the international symposium on a theme " the Pain of a planet: Chernobyl, Hiroshima, Nagasaki "has passed.
The next years the international scientific-practical conferences and symposiums on questions of radiating safety of rehabilitation of children, injured of influence of radiation have been taken in Brest and Gomel, in centers of science of Holland, Germany, other countries
In one of the conferences, taking place in German small town Korshenbrojh in 1994 from the Belarus party, alongside with representative delegation of scientists - radiatists, members of parliament, among them deputies of Committee of the Supreme Soviet of republic on overcoming consequences of accident on CHAZS have taken part.
Memory.
The target program "Memory" in essence is in many respects a component of programs "Chernobyl", and "Care". Means, directed on its realization, go on rendering assistance to invalids and participants of the Great Patriotic War and to muffling up soldiers-internationalists, in particular, to former soldiers and the officers who have lost health in Afghanistan.
Other part of assignments goes on perpetuating of memory of defenders of the native ground. At share financial participation of fund in republic the edition of history-documentary chronicles the "Memory" started under the initiative of P.M.Masherova proceeds.
In these books fighters and commanders of parts and connections of a field army, guerrillas and the underground workers who have brought in the contribution to clearing of Belarus from fascist invaders, and also names of the fellow countrymen, falling by brave death are by name brought at performance of the international debt during local confrontations.
With assistance of Fund and on its means are built and monuments and obelisks, memorial boards and memorable signs in places of mass burial places of participants of fights and victims of nazi prosecutions in former concentration camps and the Jewish ghettoes are supported in an appropriate kind.
Under the initiative of Vitebsk regional branch of Fund according to the Decision of Council of Ministers of republic it is created and supported public Association " Poshuk" by material means.
Its participants, students and pupils of the senior classes of comprehensive schools during holydays, under the direction of skilled instructors on places of the former battles of the Great Patriotic War about ten years are engaged in search and rise from the trenches destroyed by time and dugouts of remains of the lost soldiers, the weapon, an ammunition and fragments of equipment of fighters.
Search works on each site come to the end by the legend to the ground of remains of victims on a battlefield with all military honours. Names of the fighters established under found documents, after acknowledgement by the Central archive, will be put in the Books of memory of corresponding areas. Within the framework of the program "Memory" the open-air museum is created in Rassonskom place of Vitebsk region where actively operated in rear of enemy armies P.M.Masherova's guerrilla brigade.
National Diplomacy.
Priority authorized problem of Fund was and there is an assistance by accessible forces and means to maintenance of the world and the consent in the Belarus society, to strengthening of friendship and mutual understanding between peoples of our republic and foreign countries within the framework of national diplomacy
With the termination of cold war of the form of such work have essentially changed. Now paramount value is got with communications at a level of friendly contacts of the families, separate people and collectives. In particular, trips of parents from Belarus on a visit to foreign friends where our children had a rest, and reciprocal visits of the named families to our republic became already habitual.
Under the initiative of the Minsk city, Brest and Grodno regional branches of Fund direct communications between a number of schools from Belarus, Germany and the USA have been established, the exchange of delegations of senior pupils and learning lyceums has taken place, interesting debates on the problems interesting teenagers, youth have been lead. A great advantage was brought by youth summer camp " Young people together " in which guys from Belarus, Holland, Northern Ireland and Scotland have taken part,.
Fruitful work within the framework of national diplomacy is carried out by heads and tutors who accompany groups of children on improvement abroad. All of them before trip receive the extensive information on Fund of the world, mainstreams of its activity, on an economic and political situation in republic.
It allows our, figuratively speaking, diplomats without passports, confidently feel during contacts with foreign public, representatives of press and electronic mass media, to not be lost at meetings with high-ranking officials, to be able to tell about the main thing, by which Belarus lives. So was, for example, when the Belarus guys during walk have unexpectedly met the Queen of Netherlands Beaktris.
The other time young senders of the Fund of the world have adequately proved in Parliament of the Great Britain where have received the invitation. Extremely important role in informing the population of foreign countries on consequences of Chernobyl accident and the contribution to the decision of this problem of the Belarus fund of the world is played by amateur collective of the Brest regional center of creativity of youth.
Guys led by the head of the program of Fund "Child of the World" E.V.Dmitrievoj have prepared performance "After whom Chernobyl bells call" in English. With this performance young artists of Fund have acted in Norway, Holland, the USA, England, Scotland for visitors from Italy and other countries. In 1997 the collective which has received wide recognition of foreign public, was honored to give representation in a prestigious concert hall of England "Karnegi-hall"
Last years with performance " After whom Chernobyl bells call " inhabitants of Northern Wales have got acquainted. Here as a recognition of peace-making merits of the Brest guys the local youth committee has created branch of the organization " Child of the world ". In 1998 under the initiative of the Belarus embassy in the Great Britain maintained by the president of republic, young presenters of Fund of the world from Brest have taken part in the official ceremony devoted to 12-th anniversary of failure on CHAES.
In London, in the Central hall of Westminster, display of performance " After whom Chernobyl bells call ". Responses of spectators, as always, were the most enthusiastic. On the means obtained from the performances abroad, guys constantly get medicines for sick children of Belarus
In activity of Fund there are priority questions of struggle against threat of war. Despite of appreciable "warming" of a climate on international scene, transition of the majority of the countries from confrontation to cooperation, still there are certain forces which do not accept the multipolar world, do much to aggravate an international situation.
On it the notorious policy of double standards, rough intervention are directed to internal affairs, political and economic blockade of the independent states, overthrow of the objectionable governments with the help of the weapon and direct military aggression as recently was on the Balkans. In work the forms checked up by time are used: demonstrations, processions, evenings in protection of the world and prevention of military threat.
